Hawaii State Department of Education Wellness Guidelines
All school food authorities receiving funds from USDA for the National School Lunch
Program must implement a local wellness policy. In Hawaii, the DOE is the largest School food authority. In 2007 the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) released the Wellness Guidelines for Hawaii’s public schools.
State of Hawaii Department of Education: Healthy Hawaii School Challenge
The Healthy Hawaii School Challenge was created to recognize your school’s commitment to the health and well being of your students. Many schools have already made changes to their school nutrition environments, improved the quality of foods served, and now provide students with more nutritious, healthy choices. In addition, recognition as a Healthy Hawaii School may be beneficial when applying for awards and recognition programs that honor principals, vice principals, and teachers for their hard work and dedication.

Hawaii Action for Healthy Kids
The Hawaii Action for Healthy Kids Team is supporting schools with the implementation of Hawaii Department of Education Wellness Guidelines; promoting a healthy school environment that provides students with nutritious food options and quality daily physical activity.
Food: Just Grow It!
Food: Just Grow It! is an agricultural project by the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources' Cooperative Extension Services. It promotes optimal health, nutrition and physical activity, and concern for the environment through agriculture-related school activities.
After-School All-Stars Hawaii provides quality comprehensive after-school programs to young people who need a safe, supervised educational environment from 3:00-6:00 pm. ASAS has provided tremendous opportunities for the positive development for the children of our community.

Center for Disease Control: Healthy Youth! School Education Resources (SHER)
CDC's (SHER) provides user-friendly access to the myriad school health education offerings available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Included with the SHER materials are the related National Health Education Standards and CDC's Characteristics of Effective Health Education Curricula.

Making It Happen! School Nutrition Success Stories illustrates a wide variety of approaches that schools have taken to improve student nutrition. Making It Happen! School Nutrition Success Stories tells the stories of schools and school districts that have implemented innovative strategies to improve the nutritional quality of foods and beverages sold outside of Federal meal programs.
Let’s Move
Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.
The JAM School Program brings physical activity and health education into the classroom. JAM is designed to teach kids (and adults) healthier lifestyle habits. JAM is a free wellness resource for schools. JAM resources offer a weekly one-minute exercise routine called JAMmin’ Minute®, an athlete-featured more extensive routine called JAM Blast®, and a monthly health newsletter called Health-E-tips.
National Gardening Association: Kids Gardening
The satisfying experiences of planting, cultivating, and harvesting fruits and vegetables creates a lifelong appreciation for healthy living. Beyond formal educational materials, our plant-based resources address pervasive health concerns such as poor nutrition and inactivity. By supporting thousands of school and community gardens nationwide, we help children and adults establish links between plants, gardening, food, and health.
